Beverly Hills, CA

Liposculpting is an advanced form of cosmetic surgery designed to contour areas of the body by removing and contouring areas of stubborn fat deposits. Power-assisted liposuction is similar to traditional liposuction but has a few important differences. Power-assisted liposuction allows for the strategic removal of small, localized fat deposits to efficiently and effectively sculpt and mold improved body contours and achieve more pronounced definition. Liposculpting can be performed nearly anywhere on the body, including the abdomen, thighs, back, buttocks, flanks, and arms.

What Is Liposculpting?

There are two different kinds of fat cells in the body: subcutaneous and visceral. Subcutaneous fat is the more superficial fat located directly under the skin, while visceral fat cells are stored within the abdominal cavity, which surrounds your vital organs. Many areas of subcutaneous fat deposits are termed stubborn and are resistant to diet and exercise. This is the type of fat that liposculpting targets to slim and contour the treatment areas.

Everyone has a certain degree of subcutaneous fat, but genetics, exercise, and eating habits determine how much. Subcutaneous fat is primarily caused by eating more calories than you burn, limited fat-burning exercises, and having low muscle mass.

Liposculpture is a minimally invasive facial and body contouring procedure that removes excess subcutaneous fat using small incisions in targeted areas using the power-assisted liposuction device. As a result, the muscles underneath the fat become more defined through the skin once all the swelling resolves. This allows for a more sculpted and defined look.

What does Liposculpting NOT Address?

Although liposuction and liposculpting are used to achieve an improved definition of one’s physique, it is important to mention that they are not an alternative to a healthy diet and exercise routine. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure but a body contouring procedure, allowing for an improved shape.

It is important to note that during this procedure, the fat cells removed from the body are permanently removed. However, the remaining fat cells can grow or shrink depending on continued diet, activity levels, and lifestyle. Before pursuing liposculpting, it’s essential that you be at or near your goal weight and have a well-established, healthy lifestyle that can maintain your results.

What Can Liposculpting Do?

Target Multiple Areas

Liposculpture is an incredibly diverse procedure. Liposculpture may be the right procedure for you if you have single or multiple problem areas where you would like to see more muscle definition or achieve a better-contoured figure. Common areas in which it can be performed include the thighs, hips, buttocks, abdomen, waist, upper arms, back, cheeks, chin, and neck.

Achieve Slimmer Contours

Liposculpture is a convenient method for dramatically improving your appearance and self-confidence by removing the stubborn excess fat you’ve been struggling to target with diet and exercise. After your liposculpture procedure, you can expect more attractive contours and a slimmer figure.

Enhanced Muscle Definition

For many people, muscle definition can be camouflaged by excess fat even after they have put in the hard work and discipline to add muscle through weight training and high-intensity exercises. Dr. Lee uses his artistic touch to strategically remove fat and create a more flattering, toned, and defined area.

What Are the Different Types of Liposculpting?

Traditional Liposculpture

Power-Assisted Liposuctions

Traditional Liposculpture

A traditional liposculpture procedure begins by filling the tissue with a tumescent solution infused with medications to decrease bleeding and improve pain control. Once the tissues have been filled with the solution, Dr. Lee uses a hollowed stainless steel tube called a cannula to remove the fat and contour the area.

Power-Assisted Liposuctions

A power-assisted liposculpture machine attaches the cannula to an oscillating handpiece. The handpiece drives the cannula back and forth beneath the skin to break up fatty tissue and make removing it easier. Power-assisted liposuction allows Dr. Lee to conduct higher volumes of liposuction more efficiently with less trauma to the surrounding areas.

Skin tightening with J Plasma (Renuvion)

Loose skin is a common concern among patients interested in undergoing liposuction. If you think of your skin like a balloon when it is fresh out of the bag, it is taut and can hold its form. Then, when you put air or water into the balloon, stretching the material out to its full capacity and then quickly releasing the air, the balloon loses a significant amount of its elasticity. This is where Renuvion J Plasma comes into effect. Renuvion is a revolutionary skin-tightening treatment that can be combined with liposuction. It uses radio frequency (RF) energy and helium plasma beneath the surface to tighten and contract loose skin over the course of 9-12 months.

What To Expect During Liposculpting Recovery

As with all other surgical procedures, recovery time is necessary to ensure that you heal properly and can fully enjoy the benefits of your improved body contours.

  • Immediately after surgery, Dr. Lee will place compression garments around the treatment areas. These garments will help control swelling and support the tissues of your new body contours. You will be given specific instructions on caring for the incisions, topical and oral medications you should take, and the recommended intensity and type of exercise. During recovery, your incisions must not be exposed to excessive force, abrasion, or tension.
  • After one week, most patients can return to work. The general timeline will depend on the number of treated areas and whether any other procedures were combined with the liposculpture. Dr. Lee will tell you what you can expect once your treatment plan is finalized.
  • After 6 weeks of recovery, most swelling and bruising should be resolved, and the results of your liposculpture should continue to become more apparent. You may resume strenuous activity at this time as soon as Dr. Lee has cleared you.
  • At 6-8 weeks of recovery, you should be completely healed and able to resume all daily activities and exercise.
